Proton has announced its driver lineup for the upcoming 2024 Sepang 1000KM endurance race, where the national carmaker will field two Proton S70 R3 race cars.

The #81 car will be driven by three-time S1K winner Syafiq Ali, paired with Fahrizal Hasan, a multiple winner at the Sepang 12 Hours. The #82 car will feature an 18-year-old rising star, Ariff Azmi, along with 21-year-old Alister Yoong, son of Malaysia's only Formula 1 driver, Alex Yoong.
The S70 R3 race cars will feature a livery similar to the Malaysian Touring Car display unit revealed earlier this year. The race cars will be powered by a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated, inline-four cylinder engine, as per the MTC class regulations.
Beyond the Sepang 1000KM, Proton is also looking to enter an MCS SP2-class race car next year, utilizing the production 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine from the road-going S70.
