Dell Technologies Unleashes New AI Innovations at the Edge

Innovative solutions set to transform edge operations and boost efficiency

Dell Technologies is taking a giant leap forward in the realm of artificial intelligence with exciting enhancements to its Dell NativeEdge software platform. These advancements aim to simplify AI deployment and bolster resilience across various edge environments, from bustling retail stores to dynamic factory floors.

Streamlining AI at the Edge

According to a recent report by Gartner®, by 2025, over 50% of enterprise-managed data will be generated and processed outside traditional data centers or cloud environments. As businesses increasingly shift data processing to the edge, the need for agile, connected, and secure systems becomes paramount.

“AI is accelerating new edge workloads and opportunities at an unprecedented rate,” said Gil Shneorson, senior vice president of solutions and platforms at Dell Technologies. “Our NativeEdge expansion automates the deployment and management of edge AI workloads, ensuring that organizations can leverage the latest AI advancements to drive revenue and enhance customer experiences.”

Boosting Efficiency with NativeEdge

Dell NativeEdge stands out as the industry's only edge operations software platform that offers secure device onboarding at scale along with remote management capabilities. The latest updates introduce multinode high-availability (HA) clustering for NativeEdge Endpoints, which include Dell PowerEdge servers, OptiPlex, Precision workstations, and Dell Gateways. This means organizations can:

- Maintain critical business processes even during network disruptions or device failures.

- Benefit from virtual machine migration and automatic failover for applications, compute, and storage.

- Adapt seamlessly to changing workload demands across diverse environments.

- Integrate with external storage solutions like Dell PowerStore and PowerVault for enhanced AI model training and deployment.

Keith Bradley, VP of Information Technology at Nature Fresh Farms, shared his experience: “With over 1,000 IoT-enabled facilities, Dell NativeEdge helps us monitor real-time infrastructure elements. It has not only enhanced our operational efficiencies but also reduced costs while supporting our growth in yield optimization.”

Simplifying AI Deployments

For organizations looking to implement AI inferencing at the edge, deploying applications across numerous locations can be daunting. To ease this process, Dell offers over 55 pre-built NativeEdge Blueprints that automate the deployment of various AI applications and frameworks. This initiative significantly reduces setup time and minimizes errors.

The expanded catalogue includes:

- Open-source tools like Apache Spark™, Apache Airflow®, MLflow, and Grafana for MLOps workflows.

- Aveva Unified Operations Center for modernizing city infrastructure.

- EPIC iO for enhancing retail operations through real-time analytics.

- Dell Data Collector for swift data transfer from IoT devices.

- Intel® Geti™ software for accelerating computer vision AI model development.

- Updates to NVIDIA AI Enterprise software for efficient deployment.

Looking Ahead

These advancements are set to be available by January 2025. Customers can also purchase NVIDIA AI Enterprise licenses directly from Dell to streamline their NativeEdge deployments.
