SEOUL, Korea – 29 April 2025 – Samsung just dropped some exciting news that'll make budget phone users pretty happy. The tech giant is bringing one of its flagship Galaxy S series features down to the more affordable Galaxy A lineup – and it's all about making AI assistance way more accessible.
Press and Hold for AI Magic
Starting early May, select Galaxy A series phones will let you activate Google's Gemini AI assistant with a simple press-and-hold of the side button. It's the same intuitive gesture that Galaxy S users have been enjoying, but now it's coming to phones that won't break the bank.
This update is rolling out to a pretty impressive list of devices: the Galaxy A56 5G, A55 5G, A54 5G, A36 5G, A35 5G, A34 5G, A26 5G, A25 5G, A25e 5G, and A24 – as long as they're running One UI 7.
What's the Big Deal?
Think about it – instead of fumbling around opening apps or typing out commands, you can just hold down that side button and start talking to Gemini. Need to find a pet-friendly French restaurant with outdoor seating? Just say it. Want to check your schedule or get gift recommendations? It's right there at your fingertips.
The really cool part is how Gemini can work across different apps. You could ask it to find a dinner spot on Google Maps and then send that address to a friend through Messages – all with one voice command. It works with Samsung apps, Google apps, and even some third-party ones.
Jay Kim, Samsung's Executive Vice President heading up the Customer Experience Office, put it perfectly: "We're excited that Galaxy A series users will now be able to activate Gemini faster and more naturally through a simple gesture that brings intelligent support into the flow of daily tasks."
Samsung's AI Democracy Play
This move is part of Samsung's bigger picture to democratize AI experiences. The company has already introduced "Awesome Intelligence" to the latest Galaxy A phones (A56 5G, A36 5G, and A26 5G), bringing select AI-powered features that were previously exclusive to premium devices.
The Galaxy A series has always been about balancing performance with value, and this update just makes that value proposition even sweeter. You're getting flagship-level AI convenience without the flagship price tag.

The Bottom Line
This isn't just another software update – it's Samsung and Google working together to make AI feel less like a fancy tech demo and more like a natural part of your daily routine. When you can press a button and immediately get help with everything from dinner plans to gift ideas, that's when AI actually becomes useful instead of just impressive.
The global rollout starts in early May, so Galaxy A users won't have to wait much longer to get their hands on this flagship feature. It's moves like this that show how the line between premium and budget phones keeps getting blurrier – and that's great news for consumers.
