London-based tech company Nothing just dropped their most ambitious smartphone yet – and it's coming to Malaysia first |
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 11 July 2025 – After two years of anticipation, Nothing has finally unveiled the Phone (3), and honestly, it's about time. CEO Carl Pei didn't hold back when he called out the industry: "Tech has become boring; every phone looks the same, feels the same, does the same." With the Phone (3), Nothing is clearly trying to shake things up in a smartphone market that's been playing it safe for far too long.
What Makes This Phone Different?
The standout feature here is the new Glyph Matrix – a micro-LED display on the back that's designed to actually reduce your screen time. Instead of constantly flipping your phone over to check notifications, this smart light system shows you what matters without pulling you into endless scrolling. It's a clever approach to our collective smartphone addiction problem.
But here's where it gets interesting: Nothing has added Glyph Toys – basically mini-games and tools accessible through the back of the phone. We're talking about a Glyph Mirror, Digital Clock, Stopwatch, and even games like Spin the Bottle. Two of these features (Magic 8 Ball and Leveler) were actually co-created with Nothing's community, which shows they're serious about involving users in development.
The Flagship Specs That Actually Matter
Under the hood, the Phone (3) packs the latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, delivering a massive 36% boost in CPU performance and an 88% GPU upgrade compared to the Phone (2). For photographers and content creators, this translates to significantly better image processing and AI performance.
The camera system is where Nothing is really flexing. You get a class-leading 1/1.3" main sensor for those crucial low-light shots, plus lossless optical zoom and 4K 60fps video recording across all lenses with full optical image stabilization. They've even partnered with professional photographers to create presets that give you cinematic looks without the learning curve.
Battery Life That Won't Let You Down
Nothing has equipped the Phone (3) with their largest battery yet – a 5150mAh silicon-carbon cell that should easily last beyond a full day. The 65W fast wired charging gets you fully powered up in just 54 minutes, while 15W wireless charging handles the casual top-ups.
The Software Experience
Nothing OS 3.5 introduces some genuinely useful AI features without feeling gimmicky. Essential Search gives you universal smart search with a simple swipe up from the homescreen. Flip to Record lets you transcribe and summarize meetings by simply turning your phone face down. Essential Space acts like a second brain, organizing your ideas and notes with AI assistance.
The company promises 5 years of major Android updates and 7 years of security updates, which is competitive with the best in the industry.

The Verdict
The Phone (3) represents Nothing's most mature effort yet. While some might dismiss the Glyph Matrix as a gimmick, it actually addresses real smartphone usage problems. Combined with flagship-level specs and thoughtful software features, this could be the phone that finally makes Nothing a serious player in the premium smartphone space.
In a market flooded with similar-looking devices, the Phone (3) at least tries to be different – and sometimes, that's exactly what we need.
